We’re so, so close to the biggest Club Penguin Island update of the year… I just can’t wait! Are you ready for igloos, desktop, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, the Holiday Party and more?! If you’re just too excited to contain it, here’s a few ways to prepare your penguin for this incredible new chapter for Club Penguin Island!
#1: Find inspiration around the Island
Sometimes the best interior design is already on the exterior. That’s deep. Did you know that lots of the furniture we’re going to see in our igloos is already on the Island? I’m bringing the vending machine from the Foodtrekker to my igloo, but other choices include Aunt Arctic’s desktop computer (I wonder if it has CP Island pre-installed), beach chairs at the Cove and even the giant rock from the Lighthouse. And I almost forgot! You can even bring gear to your igloo. Want to have a rock concert on a rock? Go for it. Waddle around and see what you can find!
#2: Prepare for penguin carols… penguin carols everywhere
… they might just drive you loco, we’ll stand outside and sing a ton, until you bring us cocoa. In spirit of the Holiday Party, it’s only right to get ready to SING PENGUIN CAROLS! I know lots of you will have questions about this tradition. For example, where did this tradition come from? Do we have to do it? And most importantly… who’s Carol? I’ve got the answers to two of those.
Back in 2013, the Club Penguin team created a video series called #WaddleOn. One of their holiday special episodes (along with the iconic Someone Like Me To Like Me… it still makes me cry to this day) featured a group of penguins driving penguins on the Island crazy with their holiday carols!
With igloos now on Club Penguin Island, it’s only right that we finish what they started. Penguins, we’re going to be doing some carolling.
We might even raise a few coins for Coins for Change while doing it, which will contribute towards a donation to provide toys to children! Yay, toys!
Your date of birth is never seen by The Islanders.
#3: Stop Herbert from ruining the Holiday Party

Did you really think only penguins who updated to 1.8 get to do this? Of course not! If you can stop Herbert from ruining the Island holiday feast by just giving him pizza in the first place, we can party in peace! While you’re there, do us a favour and get any EPF intel you can – thanks.
#4: Enjoy fish and cake separately one last time
The new Holiday Party introduces the most controversial combination of all time. You thought pineapple on pizza was bad (or good, it’s a controversial issue for a reason)? Meet cake with fish in it – not to be confused with fish with cake in it, which is absolutely delicious. This peculiar invention debuts at the holiday feast this December, with Aunt Arctic promising us that it’s normal. I’ll stick to Squid Sticks during the feast, meanwhile tigerrkid and I will enjoy the last remaining pieces of separated cake and fish.
#5: Keep the coins rolling in
The shopping list for the 1.8 update is huge. Have you got enough coins for igloos? Coins for Change? Olaf’s Frozen Adventure? Big Hero 6? If you haven’t, you’ve got to hurry! Joe on Island News has provided some tips for collecting coins in time for Coins for Change (he is the only Big Hero 6 we need ?).
#6: Help finish constructing your igloos
It’s a community effort! A dinosaur and his crew can only do so much in just over a month, now it’s up to you to complete the finishing touches. Are all of the bolts on the Igloo Tram secure? Is Igloos and Interiors fully stocked? Have you used the jackhammer as an instrument? As soon as all of those tasks are done, igloos are ready for the community! Unleash your inner construction worker! (if you’re struggling, I’ve heard a Hard Hat helps)
#7: Save coins with a budget Olaf costume
Saving for your igloo and that massive donation you’re going to make to Coins for Change costs a lot! I know lots of penguins have their eyes on that shiny new Olaf costume releasing in the Disney Shop as soon as the new update drops. Luckily, I have a budget-friendly solution.
Choose a regular Olaf costume from the Disney Shop and then design yourself a fancy brown bowtie in The Designer. Pop it on your penguin and voila! Now you have two Olaf costumes for the price of one and a bowtie. Dj Stores, saving penguins’ money since 2008.
#8: Get ready to hide in a cave… the Android spoilers are coming
Winter is coming? Oh, no no, I think you’re mistaken. THE ANDROID SPOILERS ARE COMING! Batten down the hatches! Trim me beard! iOS users will receive the 1.8 update later than most users on Android due to the even-more-controversial-than-pineapple-pizza-and-cake-with-fish-in-it PHASED ROLLOUT process. No other software distribution feature makes dedicated users tremble at the mere thought of it.
But it’s not all doom and gloom! Penguins who help the team discover bugs and spoil everything in the update during phased rollout help make the final release more stable for everyone! Hooray for stability! I understand how frustrating this can be, I speak from experience… five experiences… but if this helps make sure my store igloo won’t collapse on my head, it will have some benefits, right?
I’m so excited! Some of my favourite memories on classic Club Penguin were in our igloos. I remember buying my first ever igloo upgrade, buying as much Puffle furniture as I possibly could the day I got a membership, having a party with my friends in Storcko’s igloo on the second to last day.
Having our igloos back on Club Penguin Island really does mean a lot to me. It’s in this space where we will make more memories and… just have fun. That’s what matters. It’s a big week for everyone on Club Penguin Island, enjoy it. ?❤️
Thank you to tigerrkid for helping me with this post! ?
