Hi penguin family! Every year on April 25th, penguin lovers from around the world celebrate World Penguin Day. In their cozy home of the Southern Hemisphere, over 18 different types of penguins waddle around, dive for fish and dream of huge pizza parties. World Penguin Day is not only about celebrating but also about raising awareness of our real world penguin pals. As a result of climate change, oil pollution and other factors, some species of penguins are under threat of becoming extinct.
To celebrate this special day here on The Islanders, I’ve got a quiz to test your penguin knowledge and a little inside look into what the Club Penguin team are doing today for World Penguin Day.
World Penguin Day Fun Fact Quiz!
Southern Rockhopper penguins eat crustaceans

Magellanic penguins are found in North America

Galápagos penguins live further north than any other penguins

African penguins make a donkey-like sound

Emperor penguins breed during the Antarctic summer

You scored out of Ready for the answers..? If you haven’t tried the quiz already, don’t scroll down! If you have, here’s some extra penguin fun facts for you. There’s no such thing as too many fun facts. If you’re looking for more, check out Club Penguin Island’s Activity Booklet from last year!
- Question 1 – Southern Rockhopper penguins do eat crustaceans, as well as fish and cephalopods. Does Captain Rockhopper like seafood as well?
- Question 2 – Magellanic penguins live in South America, all the way from Argentina to Brazil. These penguins nest in burrows, bushes and hills of sand or clay.
- Question 3 – Galápagos penguins do live further north than any other penguins – in fact, they’re the only penguins around in the Northern Hemisphere. Forget a private igloo, or a private island, these penguins have a private hemisphere!
- Question 4 – They’re not Eeyore, but African penguins do make donkey-like sounds. These penguins’ nests are made from seaweed, shells, vegetation, rocks and feathers. Maybe some of our collectibles from The Exchange build penguin nests?
- Question 5 – Emperor penguins breed during the Antarctic winter. And these penguins sure enjoy waddling around – they walk 50-120km to where they have their babies. If that’s not commitment, I don’t know what is.

Celebrating penguins for a good cause
This is a great local fundraising initiative in Kelowna where the money from pizza sales goes towards raising funds for the charity and the community volunteers to work in the two Papa John’s restaurants in Kelowna and West Kelowna. Not only did the team enjoy delicious cookie pizzas, but they also changed lives and supported their local community. How amazing is that?!
I think it’s really great how involved the CPI team are in their local community, and it’s a great reminder for us all that even the little things can make a huge difference. Look out for fundraising going on in your school or local community – or even get involved and make a difference yourself.
Thanks for checking out my World Penguin Day post, penguin pals! How did you do on the Fun Fact Quiz? Have you done something recently to make a difference, like the CPI team did today? Share with the community in the comments below! Oh, and if you’re looking for more World Penguin Day goodness, check out my post from last year for some real world penguins and some tips for how to live like a penguin on CPI. Until next time, penguin pals…

I got three out of five on the quiz! This was a great post as always Dj. I liked how you added the activity booklet from last year. I almost forgot about that!
I haven’t done anything specific to make a difference for penguins, but recently I have been trying to preserve water by turning off the faucet while I wash my hands. I know it isn’t much, but it saves a lot of water!
Waddle on!
I didn’t know most of the answers from the quiz, sure my penguins are my favorite animal but it doesn’t know I mean everything about them! But besides that, nice post Dj! Waddle on!
Thank you, Silly! Maybe I do make some tricky quizzes… haha. It’s super cool to hear that you’re a penguin fan like me too! Waddle on!
