Hi penguin family! Welcome to our first ever Reviewed By You here on The Islanders. Sound familiar? That’s because for many years, Reviewed By You was a weekly post on the Club Penguin What’s New blog! Each week, the community will be asked a question. This can be about anything, from something new on the Island to a favourite memory of Club Penguin and Club Penguin Island. Penguins everywhere can post their answer to the question in the comments below. We’ll choose one comment to be featured in next week’s post – and there might even be a coin prize too!
One of the biggest parties to ever be hosted on Club Penguin Island just wrapped up on Wednesday. The Holiday Party 2017 had an exciting storyline, tons of items, special party supplies and, of course, Coins For Change. Penguins everywhere loved all of the decorations and fun activities for everyone, festive igloo furniture for members and the big finale feast in Island Central.
Let’s talk parties!
With the Rainbow Celebration on its way, this week I’d like to know – what do you think makes a great party? Do you like to collect items? Play fun party mini-games? Explore the wonderful seasonal decor? Let me know in the comments below! (just 50-200 words, please!) I’ll pick one comment to feature in next week’s Reviewed by You. If your review is featured next week, 500 coins in the form of confetti-filled Party Blasters will be shared with your penguin. Woo hoo!
I’m looking forward to reading and replying to all of your comments! Until next time, penguins…

The christmas party :)
A great party, in my opinion, is only great if it has a compelling story to tell or a context that gives it a purpose. It’s fine to have a Medieval Party for fun, but it’s better if it’s there to literally take us back to the past and tell us how Club Penguin built up from its early foundations. That’s just an example. I think that not every party needs a concrete story because it’s cool to just have fun! But, if it ties in well with another story then that would make it purposeful. What if the Rainbow Migration hints towards the discovery of puffles? A theme is also key. If a party is meant to be serious, emphasise that seriousness with a perfect palette of colour, an appropriate set of decorations, a fitting soundtrack and a general serious mood through the way characters interact. Operation: Blackout nailed its theme of danger and loss of hope, which is why it is remembered as one of the greatest parties on Club Penguin.
Thank you for bringing this interactive topic to The Islanders! I love reading what others think and sharing my own thoughts too. :D
I think that a good party on CPI needs a storyline, plenty of decorations that represent the party well, and things to do that will keep players engaged :)
Once again really good post Dj!
Ever since 2012 I loved parties, they kept me playing Club penguin for years. I loved the temple of fruit party the most, it brings back loads of memories. I also really liked the World cup party, Hollywood party and operation blackout.
What I love about parties is the decorations, exploring the island is such a fun thing to do at parties. I like when they decorate a couple of rooms because it keeps me playing. I also think stuff that makes you want to login daily is the best thing to do. At the Christmas one I had a blast exploring around the rooms on day one. The Christmas party made a lot of penguins login, it was really cool seeing so many penguins on the island. Unique parties are the way to go, the parties I mentioned in this comment were all really unique. The Rainbow celebration looks really cool and I can’t wait to explore that.
Thank you for sharing, Agent blue0! I loved all of the parties I experienced on Club Penguin – and you named some of the BEST! The Temple of Fruit was super unique, Operation: Blackout is by far widely seen as the best party EVER on Club Penguin, the Penguin Cup was one of a few amazing parties where the community joined together in teams and competed, and the Hollywood Party was so much fun. I’ll never forget the time I won an award for the Best Hair when my penguin wasn’t wearing any hair. :’) Exploration is one of my favourite aspects of Club Penguin Island too – so any new zones or epic igloos or decorations always excites me. Waddle on!
Wow, I don’t remember this new setup! I guess it’s been a while since I checked all the CPI news blogs.
Something for everyone – I think all parties have to have something for everyone. The point of parties is for everyone to come together and celebrate, right? Parties are bonding events for our community to become closer. Everyone should get something to remember the party and fun times.
Theme/plot – There has to be a reason for the party and parties must have you do something to be rewarded with the different items. Not just collecting the items. This would kind of be like on CP, there were the really good parties where you would have to complete levels of challenges to get an item and prize. Then, parties started to become just ways for us to get more items. We didn’t have to do anything, maybe just wait until the item unlocked. So far, there is a theme and plot to all CPI parties.
Exclusive items – Items are the main attraction of parties. Knowing that new, fresh, and possibly exclusive items coming to the party make players jump on their devices and log in, so they can see what’s new. It’s also not just about having a rare item though, the party items are like pieces of a scrapbook, coming together to form a memory lane.
Decorations – Sometimes seeing the same regular island can get boring, that’s why many players love it when the island is decorated for a new event. It’s like your first day on the island all over again, exploring each of the places on the island to see what you can do and what’s new to discover. The CPI team is doing a FIN – tastic job on decorations! I was very impressed with the Halloween and Holiday parties.
That about sums it all up! A great party should usually have something for everyone, like an item or adventure. Preferably both. There should be a theme/plot, this is what makes the parties interesting and fun! Exclusive items or something that players can have to remember the party by. Decorations. Decorations help with the theme, and they also make the party even more enjoyable and fun!
Hello it’s Spice (of course) and this is what I think makes for a decent party in CPI’s current stage:
1. Decorations- when you first log on to CPI, you should automatically know that something’s going on. Either every room should have decorations or one room should have the majority of events going on, like Island Central. The sky changing is a prime example of letting the community know that something special is happening. The theme is very clear with the rainbow party, it looks promising with all of the rainbow decorations in the teaser.
2. Activities- I’m not gonna say that Herbert or ghosts should invade every single party, that there should always be a threat, but the idea of a community goal to work towards is thrilling. Even if it’s not manually changed and the meters full up no matter what in the party’s time span, it’s the effort to make it happen that counts. I don’t know if the rainbow party is going to have a goal or meter to fill, but I believe their should be if the party is going to be a week or longer. This is especially important since we now have igloo furniture items as a brand new reward system (and music, background light, etc)
3. Rewards- decoration is important, but the visuals aren’t all that make a party. We already know that we will receive a t-shirt for everyone and that new igloo items are on the way. It looks like the rainbow party will continue the tradition of rewards, which is good.
Comparing CPI parties to classic or anything else is meaningless right now. We are in the early stages of CPI. Once new areas and puffles and features come, parties will be packed with the 3 things I mentioned. The holiday party was an upgrade from the Halloween party, yet at this point CPI is doing the best it can with this current beta stage. One day we will look back and make “do you remember?” posts about these parties. These are the things that make a great party in my opinion.
Hey Dj Stores.
In my opinion, what I think makes a great party is the fun the community is creating. Of course it is nice to collect exclusive items, but what is fun is when we, the community, use those items to build stories, let our imagination takes control.
During the Holiday Party, it was amazing to dress as Santa Claus and gives gifts to the penguins, exclusive candy canes, pieces of cake.
I had a lot of fun during the Holiday Party and the best ingredients to makes a great party is the community behind it.
I totally agree! You could have all of the decoration, activities and items in the world, but the community and how we explore and have fun with parties is one of many aspects which makes them great. I loved building stories with the unique parties on Club Penguin, since the fully-decorated rooms always inspired me.
I am really excited to see how the rainbow party will turn out. I really hope us non members will get our first hat. I also got an idea for a party on cpi.
Name: Operation: HerbertStation
The story: Kind of like operation blackout, this party will have Herbert try to take over the island by making penguin bots to build him a station named Herbert Station. Here he will make more robots to send down to Club Penguin Island and take over. The EPF will try to stop him and we will be a new recruit to the EPF.
Hey my name is Drawable! This will sort of be what I think makes a great party plus a mini review of my favorite CP party ever! Because CPI is only a year old I will be focusing on old CP.
So first I am going to go into what makes a good party. I am going to list them just to make it easier to understand.
Theme – The theme of a party is important and is what makes a party memorable and fun to us. This is a good topic to cover as with old CP we got good and bad examples of party themes. The best party themes in old CP were always the seasonal or unique CP party’s. These were the kind of party’s that made old CP feel unique and gave the game an identity like the holiday party’s and Puffle party to name a few. I think one of the best examples of this was Operation Blackout which really felt like something special and a huge step in the right direction for CP party’s. A bad example of party themes have to be the Disney ones. The whole point of party’s were that they gave a different and drastic experience to what normal CP gave us but by the time Disney party’s became the norm they kept feeling less and less special each time. This is an area I think CPI will fix because of the smaller team and bigger focus on creating seasonal parties instead of random frequent ones.
Items – Ah yes Items the one thing everyone cares about! Items in both old CP and CPI are important for how rare they are especially in the case of party exclusive items which will only be available for a limited amount of time. Having a good range of items exclusive for the party is always a good idea as it will not only show people that YES YOU WERE THERE but a way to remember the good times you had at the party. In terms of CPI I think at the moment this is whats missing from it’s party’s as there only tends to be a limited amount of time based items to get during a party which is a real shame. I do hope that in time they will add things like backgrounds, pins and a fashion shop to help fix this issue.
Design – This links in with theme’s but it is also very important. In old cp because of its drawn nature overhauling locations in the game was always much easier to do allowing for the island to completely transformed into something completely unique and special. Each party always looks different and always offers new and interesting things to do along side it. Some of the best party’s were the ones that added completely new areas that would be gone by the time the party ends and made it seem so much cooler to a younger me. Sadly this is an issue when it comes to CPI as the new 3D environment makes it harder to completely change certain locations especially as most of the locations are not even complete yet within the game. I think this is another thing that will improve over time for CPI.
Now on to my favorite party of all time on old CP.
Now I’m not sure many of you know this but I started to play old CP back in 2012 (I swear it was earlier) and that might not make me such an old CP player but the party’s and memories I made on the game are just as nostalgic as anyone else’s and I have to say the best party I have ever taken part in was the 2012 holiday party. Now I have to say nostalgia may play some part in this but coins for change and the holiday party ever since has always been special to me. Not only did this party completely overhaul the island into a detailed festive design but also offered lots to do in terms of these weird transformations into this Ice penguin and reindeer Puffle. This was so different from what we got normally and the items such as the Rockhopper holiday background for 2012 will always stay my favorite background EVER. I hope we can get great new party’s for CPI in the future as well!
Sorry for any mistakes in my comment (can’t really get a good look at my full comment all in one). Also thanks for not having a word limit haha.
