Happy National Dog Day, penguin pals! Did you know that a dog’s sense of smell is 10,000 times stronger than a human’s? Today, we’ll be travelling back in time to learn about dog puffles. In early April 2014, Captain Rockhopper wrote in to the Club Penguin Times from the Migrator, reporting that after a long Tuesday of treasure hunting, he found his stinky cheese supplies to be completely exhausted. Rockhopper had no clue that he actually had new puffle stowaways! Meanwhile on Club Penguin, penguins were getting ready for Rockhopper to dock in at the Beach and constructing the new Puffle Park.
Can you imagine Rockhopper without his stinky cheese?!
It turns out that Rockhopper had discovered dog and cat puffles… or maybe they discovered him? Regardless, Puffle Handler excitedly wrote to us in the Club Penguin Times that these new puffles would be ready for us to adopt in the Pet Shop just in time for the opening of the brand new Puffle Park. The Puffle Park would feature a slide, tyre swing, zipline and more for your puffles to interact with.
If two new pet puffles and a brand new Puffle Park wasn’t exciting enough for you, a brand new Puffle Tricks feature also launched on the first day of the 2014 Puffle Party, April 17. It sounds like quite the party!

Dog puffles finally arrived on the Island
The new Blue Border Collie puffles were adopted by penguins everywhere, I owned eleven of them! Just like other puffles in the Pet Shop, the Blue Border Collie had its own personality traits. For example, just like blue puffles, border collie puffles were loyal, however they were a bit mischievous too (after all, they got to Club Penguin by hiding on Rockhopper’s ship!). The dog puffles were fascinated by fire hydrants. Their snack of choice was Pretzels, which was also a blue puffle’s favourite food exclusive to Puffle Digging.

I hope that, one day, we get to see puffle creatures like the Blue Border Collie out in the wilds of Club Penguin Island. There’s so much of the Island we haven’t yet explored – anything is possible. I’m sure there’s penguin explorers already out there in the forest, searching for their next big discovery. Whether it will be igloos, puffles or even Rockhopper’s spare eyebrows, what’s out there in the unexplored lands will be a discovery worth waiting for.

I hope you enjoyed taking a short waddle down memory lane with me to reminisce on our beloved dog puffles. Which puffle creature was your favourite on classic Club Penguin? Let me know in the comments below! Until next time, penguins…
